Lots of squid lures and flies seem to be white.
But a gun local fly tier has made the point that the only white squid is a dead squid. He ties his squid styled flies in the dark mottled browns that squid, with their amazing ability to change colour, turn when they are scared witless by an attacking predator.
Sounded good to me so tied a Scared Squid jig.

1/6th locally made TT Lures head, brown rabbit and brown and pink (hidden in pic) feather tail with UV flash, and some cool eyes marketed as "Squid Eyes".
Dark reddish brown nail polish paint, with a blotchy cream overlay on the top of the head achieved by placing some fly wire over the head and dabbing cream nil polish which had been allowed to dry a bit on the brush so it didn't run. Then a coat of clear glitter nail polish to finish. As usual the paint job continues over the thread tie, just cause, well, why not!
Really just a modified Deceiver style tie (with "hands apart" feathers) but, like that legendary fly, my goodness it moves beautifully in the water!
