Ok, I got those jigheads I painted yesterday tied up.

1/8 oz Pillhead jig with a custom paint job I did yesterday. Tail is White foxtail with a few wraps of Silver Hackle Flash around the tail. Chenille is New Age "Salt & Pepper".

Those are sweet! I'm always amazed when I look at the latest thing you've tied.

I like tying the satin. You know, I think I have some foxtail around here somewhere if I'm not mistaken. I remember the wife getting a hand full of different things over at Backwoods when we where going to their weekly meetings last year. I have quite a bit of stuff we bought that I've never used.

So do I, Pup. Those are a fairly close color match to some of the Shad we have in our rivers. I really can't wait until I can get those wet!

I like them all. You certainly tie well. Thanks for sharing.

Just discovered that Orvis UK sell the New Age chenille. I can 'feel' a purchase coming on;)

I've got A LOT of chenille. Stuff I've bought as well as stuff that's been given to me. In all honesty, the New Age stuff is about all I use anymore.

Good work on those jigs. Always enjoy looking at jig patterns and getting some ideas for my time at the vise. Will take a look at the new colors of New Age Chenille when I get a chance.

Head's Up!!! The other day I was at Hobby Lobby getting some more wool roving. They had a bunch of yarn on discount. I saw a package of some kind of yarn like an eyelash yarn, but with much long "lashes". They were really close in length to the hackle flash I used on these jigs. I might have to go back and get some. I know I saw Fl. Orange and Chartreuse. I hope they have a Fl. Pink :)

I managed to hit the Fall White Bass run while we were offline, before we left Oklahoma. The bite was usually live minnows under a float in the current. However, I did a chance to try the jigs in pic #2 a couple times.

I tied the fox tail to the shank the entire length of the hook. So, that golden olive colored material is present under the chenille the entire length. Well, to my surprise, once that Baitfish color chenille gets wet, it turns a little translucent. AND is lets the color of the fox tail under it show through. I'm hoping that it looks like an Emerald Shiner up here. I'll probably have to tie more up this Winter.

I didn't catch any White Bass with that jig, but a nice Drum decided to eat it.....

Help, I'm blind !

Yup, compact flashy baitfish ties. Looks like Mirage in the tail of the bottom jigs, but what is the skinny twist material?

Hawn, I think I always called that "Holographic" Flashabou. I just checked it, and it is, indeed, "Mirage" Flashabou. The twisty stuff is a product called Hackle Flash. It's similar to eyelash yarn, except the "lashes" are longer, and made of some kind of mylar-like material. I've got two colors, silver, and olive. I received these as part of my original starter tying kit from a friend. I haven't seen this material any where else. Not sure if it's still made or not.

First, let me apologize for ressurrecting an older thread.

I just wanted to let you all know that the jigs in Pic #2 will be getting a production run soon. I made the decision a month or so ago to take one of those jigs and hook them into a jig-spinner frame, which I had already swapped the blade out for a size 3 chartreuse blade with a scale pattern on it. The Smallies up here in MI can't resist it!

I'll have to remember to bust out the other two patterns and give them a try one of these days.....
