Only been tying a few here and there, but do need to re-stock my box with a good supply of the small kip and wool roving jigs for when the crappies start coming up with casting distance of shore. Gills after that. Got a friend i met ice fishing that i plan to give an Altoid tin worth also. Got a few tied up.

These others are all on 1/16 Worm Nose heads, so can tie right up flat against the head. 3 of them use spun hair technique (actually bucktail, but from the base of the tail to get flare) and the other just has a chenille body. These are bulky and flashy to be ale to swim slowly and hopefully grad attention from some smallies.

Just a closeup.

Very nice I like those for sure... Lately I've been having issues trimming the kiptail from up around my collar what do you use? Also just curious what size heads the smaller are. Thanks in advance

Thanks for all the comments.

VaCrappieMan - The smaller head sizes are a mix of 1/32 and 1/24, leadfree so a little lighter weight than regular lead heads of same size. Probably not enough difference to notice though. I trim the hair up against the head with a razor blade..... just make sure it is a fresh sharp blade. I trim small sections at a time by rolling the knife edge (not sure how to explain it) across the hair up against the head. Then rotate the vise and do another section. I also add a dab of nail polish to the thread before i finish wrapping thread and knot it and then coat with nail polish after also.

Russ, that is some good work there! If I may make a color suggestion, try tying some with black hair on top and fl. yellow on the bottom, red threadneck and no paint on the head, no flash in the hair either, and of course a crappie nibble on the hook in gr. chart. or pink. fish them under a small foam float, and maybe a couple small split shot between the float and jig to be able to throw it. nothing produces around here in the lakes I fish like that color combo.
