Thinking about messing around tonight and going to try and make some "bug" type jigs for gills...I dont have any rubber legs at the moment so that is out. I have lots of chenniles, cactus chenniles, squirrel tails, small jigs, marabou, some duck flank, a little of this and a little of that...
Any help with ideas (pics of your stuff) would be appreciated. I think I have some ideas in mind but we will see how they actually materialize!

1/32-oz.... Black painted head, black rabbit for a tail, black chenille for body. Done. Go catch bluegill!

Black head, chartreuse chenille (Crazy Angler Cc SlabSlayer), and chartreuse dyed squirrel has been a fantastic jig for me as well

Get an old bungee cord. You'll have plenty of rubber legs

Another route is learning how to do dubbed bodies....

This is a 1/16-oz head... I was just goofing around. But you get the idea!

Have any hackle and peacock? Can make a really nice 'bug' using a body made of peacock herl and then palmer a hackle over it. The hackle gives a good leggy look.

You can also somewhat use the duck flank as a palmer feather and the barred colors really look nice.

Did a quick google search for duck flank bugs that shows some cool ideas.

This one i like and think it could be converted to a jig pretty easy......... Fox's Poopah - FAOL

AF beat to to the description, but I have a some good ones tied up. Some on 1/80th jigs, some done as a bead-head fly, but with a large tungsten bead for extra weight. Here's a good example. Peacock and Starling (classic pattern). Peacock herl for the tail and body (I've since gone to Peacock sword for the tail), counter-wrapped with copper wire to protect the herl, and a soft-hackle collar of Starling.

That little jig is freaking deadly! Hang it under a float, and drift it along a weedline.

If you have a book on fly patterns, look at all the nymph patterns. Many of those can successfully be adapted to jigs. Just remember that you need to tie the bug upside-down.

Thanks guys! I went to get some stuff out last night and realized I had 1 1/80th ounce jighead painted black. I just put everything away and went to the couch! I realized I needed to paint and cast some heads so I will do that this weekend then see what I can cook up!

Thanks again!
