Its pretty pleasing. Thanks to Qpassage I obtained some uncured skrat hide fur that I really like - fine supple fibers are shorter than rabbit perfect for smaller jigs. And the dried hide is paper thin for EZ crosscut wrapping hook shanks. Possible bonus of raw amino leach attraction too. Jig is 1/16 #4 hook #1 prop 3.5mm plastic bead.

JiggerJohn has been playing with beads in his bathroom, and sent me a vid of perch targeting the bead rather than blade of an ice jig, so the gray thread wrap makes the fluorescent stand out in the overall drab appearance of the jig.

A very concise, compact, NATURAL Boolie there, ole pal ! I can see what ya mean about the bead standing out ;those ice guys in Michigan &Ontario are really big on a single bright bead at the rear of their spoons, proving that no other tipping is needed! And my "tank tests" with beaded lures show they actually add wobbling action to a jig!

Some observations for building Boolies: yes, smooth plated quality metal beads enable smoother prop spinning, but premium quality plastic seems goodnuf for me. Advantages of plastic are bright fluorescent colors and EZer to tie if they are SuperGlued to the hook shank - takes some practice to set the bead just right and avoid bleed into the prop spin area. I use a toothpick to apply just the right amount of glue. Plastic can also be forced past hook barbs EZer than metal.

Since propeller spin is maximized by reducing friction, Boolie creator JiggerJohn prefers the minimal bearing contact of flytie cones instead of stopper beads.

Good looking jig. I like the tight n compact go get em style. Natural color is not something I fish with, but if I did, yours'd be perfect. I fish a road runner stationary or on a vertical/ dying pattern on occasion, so I may try one of them helicopter blades one day.
Very intricate and good looking

Inspiring hj

Have you tried hot glue to hold the bead - for the bleed? Probably to long of a process.

Had another post where I said "don't like to use superglue on tyes" have to retract it now....
Easy to prep a bunch to tye

Haven't tried the hot stuff, end of a toothpick dab requires precision probably not possible with a gun. Also, some bleed into the bead hole is necessary to bind it to the hook shank.

Some further suggestions on constructing Boolies: notice that my Flashabou is UNDER the body tie which helps prevent the flexible flash fibers from tangling in the prop. The longish thread tie over shortish body material also helps to keep the body fibers from doing the same. S'why I'm not a fan of supple satin overties.
